What to Expect
The tour begins at the historic Hotel Reichshof, which, like the Hamburg U-Bahn, opened in 1906. Your guide will give you a warm welcome and introduce you to the remarkable story of this listed building, originally built for emigrants. You’ll also receive your mobile audio guide system with headphones before setting off!
Discover the exciting origin story of the elevated railway (“Hochbahn”) through historical images and construction plans displayed on select platforms. Enjoy captivating background stories – much of the route is above ground, offering fantastic views of the city.

Mundsburg and St. Gertrud’s Church
Many stations have been authentically restored. From Mundsburg station, enjoy a view of the impressive St. Gertrud’s Church, where former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt was baptized and confirmed.
