Experience Hamburg’s port and its innovative energy transition up close! Our 3-hour barge tour will showcase the most exciting developments in the field of renewable energies and offer a unique perspective on the port’s transformation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Start and itinerary of the tour<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The trip begins either at the \u00dcberseebr\u00fccke or the Landungsbr\u00fccken. Departure times depend on the tides to ensure all the highlights of the route are accessible.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Cold drinks are available on board all launches. On our comfort launches, we also offer hot drinks and individually bookable buffets (finger food, cold\/hot).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Highlights of the route<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Norderelbe and district heating tunnel:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

We pass the Tollerort Container Terminal and the Altona Cruise Terminal on the way to Waltershofer Hafen, the center of container shipping with modern shore power supply.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

K\u00f6hlbrand and heat storage:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

We enter the K\u00f6hlbrand River via a lock. Here you can see the future heat storage facility of the Hafen power plant, which will replace the Wedel coal-fired power plant starting in 2026.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Green Hydrogen HUB Moorburg:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

From 2027, the former Moorburg coal-fired power plant will become a central site for the production of green hydrogen \u2013 a milestone for the energy transition.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Flower Sand Harbor:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Germany’s first large import terminal for green energy is being built at Blumensandhafen. Starting in 2026, ammonia will be delivered here for hydrogen production.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Historical highlights in the Hansahafen:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

At Hansahafen, home to the International Port Museum, you can experience a look back at Hamburg’s maritime history. The general cargo ship MS Bleichen and the historic four-masted ship Peking are moored there, flanked by old harbor cranes and the tracks of the harbor railway.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Barges and service<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The tour is conducted on modern barges powered by environmentally friendly HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) \u2013 a diesel with a significantly better CO\u2082 balance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n
